come to the boutique!
Slaving away once again for another boutique. This time it's the Carousel Boutique, which runs through Friday at Provo High. If you're in town, you just gotta stop by! If you're not in town, you just gotta stop by Shelly's website!

playing with photoshop
...Sitting in a Park City hotel room, late at night, all the boys watching Alvin and the Chipmunks, me, with my computer. What am I to do but pull up pictures I've taken during the week and play with them in Photoshop?
I see these windmills every day as I jog or walk or as I am shuttling kids to school or taking a trip to the grocery store, and I absolutely love them. They just kind of take my breath away every time I see them. I keep trying to capture them through my lens but every time I try I'm disappointed because I just can't capture their majesty in a picture. Finding a perspective on these windmills will be my mission over the next year. WHY are they proving so difficult?
Found these ginormous beauties by the side of the road and had to pull over to snap some shots.

caveman pride
We took a hike AGAIN! This time we hiked to Timpanogos Cave. My dear old A.F. High School mascot was a CAVEMAN because of our proximity to the amazing cave. I never thought it was a strange mascot to have until I went to college and realized that most people's mascots were Eagles or Cougars or Vikings, definitely NOT Cavemen! But I still have Caveman Pride, and I still love hiking to the cave...feels like home to me! To me, there is absolutely NO more beautiful place on this earth than American Fork Canyon and Timponogos Cave.
Deep inside the cave! (For more on Uncle Clint's condition, see below)
Clint, demonstrating cave sickness, an extreme condition that sets in after prolonged lack of oxygen and too much exposure to my crazy kids...
My favorite picture from inside the cave (above) because I turned off the flash...should have done that more!

manipulation
I have a son who knows how to get exactly what he wants. I had just gotten a wide angle lens (thank you honey!) and was dying to try it out but I was hit with migraines for a couple of days. Kenyon came to me and said, "Mom, I think I know just what you need..." (This should be good.) "You need a nice, relaxing day at the reservoir so you can take pictures of us with your new lens. I'll get us all packed if you'll just take us!" And he did, and I did, and he was right, it WAS just the thing I needed.

fun project
I was asked to create an invitation for a fun group of women who get together regularly for a Gourmet Club party. (And I DO mean gourmet...they go ALL out!) These were a couple of the "Farmer's Market" choices I gave them for invite designs:
